Safe Deal: paying from the Advance and checking the post
Safe Deals are now paid from the Advance, brands check each post within 24 hours, and we updated the Terms, Privacy Policy and Safe Deal Terms.
We updated the Safe Deal Terms, the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. All three take effect today.
The reason is two changes to Safe Deal: how brands pay, and how a brand checks a published post.
This is a plain summary, not legal advice. The documents themselves are what count.
If you only use Direct deals
Nothing changes for you. Direct deals stay free, and you pay each other directly, outside paidpost.
1. Paying from the Advance — changed
Before: the card paid whatever the Advance and earnings didn't cover, whatever the amount.
Now: a Safe Deal is paid from the Advance and, if you also create, from your earnings. A card only adds to the Advance, from $50 at a time, plus the 7% service fee. If the deal costs more than you have, the deal page shows how much to add. Then you come back to the deal and pay from the Advance. Nothing is charged by itself.
For example: with nothing on your Advance, you add $50 and pay $53.50 by card. A $10 post leaves $40 on your Advance for your next Safe Deals, with no further fee. You can ask for unused Advance back on your card, as before; the 7% isn’t refunded.
A limit: the Advance holds up to $2,000. When a deal costs more, you can add up to that deal’s price.
Why. A card’s fixed fee made small payments cost us more than they brought in. One add now covers several deals, so it pays to book a few smaller creators.
2. Checking the post — added
Before: a brand could report a problem with the content at any time before the deal completed.
Now: when the creator adds the post link, we email the brand and show it in the deal. The brand has 24 hours to compare the post with the offer and answer: Looks right or Something’s wrong. No answer counts as accepted.
After that, a brand can’t report a problem with the content. If the creator changes the link, the 24 hours start again. If the post is deleted or changed later, we find that with our own checks, which go on to the end of the agreed period.
For creators: publish what the offer says, and don’t change the post once it’s accepted. A changed post stops the deal until we review it.
Why. The brand knows best what it ordered, and a clear answer early on settles most questions before they become a dispute.
3. Privacy Policy — changed
- Post checks. When X’s public data isn’t available, we read the deal’s post with the access the creator gave us when linking the X account. Before, we used that access only for pinned posts and reposts.
- Records. We keep a record of a brand accepting a post’s content, and when.
4. Terms of Service — changed
One line about fees now says that a card adds to the Advance, and Placements are paid from it. Nothing else changed.
What you need to do
- Everyone sees a short dialog to accept the updated Terms and Privacy Policy.
- Safe Deal users accept the new Safe Deal Terms before their next Safe Deal action.
- Deals already paid carry on under the version they started with.
