Safe Deal: a new way to buy and sell posts on paidpost

Buy the post from paidpost, and paidpost pays the creator. 7% on card payments and on payouts, nothing inside. Direct deals stay free.

There are now two ways to do a deal on paidpost: the Direct deal you already know, and Safe Deal.

A sponsored post between strangers has one awkward moment: someone has to go first. The brand pays and hopes the post goes out, or the creator posts and hopes the money comes. Safe Deal removes that moment. The brand buys the post from paidpost, and paidpost pays the creator after the post has stayed up.

Direct deals stay free and unchanged. Safe Deal is optional, and you choose it deal by deal.

Direct deal or Safe Deal

Direct deal

  • The brand pays the creator directly, by the creator's payment link or however you agree in chat.
  • paidpost isn't part of the payment and takes no fee.
  • The creator usually gets the money before the post.

Safe Deal

  • The brand buys the post from paidpost. The brand and the creator have no contract or payment between them.
  • The creator accepts first, then the brand pays, and only then does the creator publish.
  • paidpost checks the post, then pays the creator the full price.
  • If there's a problem, paidpost reviews it and decides.

What it costs

7% on card payments and 7% on payouts. Nothing inside.

  • The brand pays the price + 7% by card: a $100 post costs $107, plus any tax shown at checkout.
  • The creator earns the full price: $100 goes to earnings.
  • A payout costs 7%: a $100 payout sends $93.
  • Inside paidpost it's free. Paying from the Advance has no fee, and neither does spending earnings on your own Safe Deals.

For brands: three ways to pay

When you book a creator, choose how you'll pay for this offer:

  • Direct deal. You pay the creator directly, as before.
  • Propose a Safe Deal. The creator chooses: a Safe Deal or a Direct deal.
  • Safe Deal only. The creator can accept it only as a Safe Deal.

A campaign has the same choice as its default (there, the middle one is called "Direct + Safe"), and you can change it for each offer. If a creator takes Safe Deals only, that's the one option you'll see.

How you pay. Nothing is charged when you send an offer. After the creator accepts, you have 48 hours to pay, and no later than one hour before the agreed time. Until you pay, either side can cancel at no cost. Your card is charged when you pay. If you don't pay in time, the deal closes and nothing is charged.

The Advance is an optional prepayment for your next Safe Deals, from $10 at a time and up to $2,000 in total. The 7% is added when you prepay: adding $100 costs $107. Deals paid from it have no fee. You can ask for unused Advance back on your card, but the 7% isn't refunded.

Before your first payment you tick the Safe Deal Terms and give your company name and country, plus your VAT ID if you have one and you're in the EU or UK. Safe Deal is sold to businesses only.

For creators: how to turn it on

The Safe Deals panel on the account page

Open your X account in the app, go to the Public page tab, press Turn on in the Safe Deals panel and agree to the Safe Deal Terms. It applies to all your X accounts, and you can turn it off later: deals already paid go on as agreed.

  • Your page shows it. Brands see a Safe Deal badge in the catalog and on your page.
  • Safe Deals only. Turn this on if you don't want Direct offers. Brands can then send you only Safe Deals.
  • An offer can come first. A brand can send a Safe Deal offer before you've turned it on. You'll be asked to turn it on before accepting, or you can decline.
  • Switch an offer. You can switch an open offer to a Safe Deal yourself before you accept it.

Don't publish until the brand has paid: we tell you by email and in the deal.

How the post is checked

The creator publishes the post and marks it in the deal with its link. A repost has no link of its own, so the creator just marks it. Every post type works in a Safe Deal, reposts included.

The post stays up for the days agreed in the offer, up to 7. We check it automatically during that time and at the end. For pinned posts and reposts, these checks use the access the creator gave us when linking the X account. If a check fails or X doesn't answer, we tell both sides and the post is checked by hand.

After the last check passes, the deal completes, no earlier than 48 hours after publishing. The brand doesn't need to confirm anything.

We check that the post is there, not how it performs. Reach, clicks and sales aren't part of the deal, and the ad label stays the creator's job.

When paidpost pays the creator

paidpost puts the full price in the creator's earnings when the deal completes. Earnings become payable 48 hours later. Then you can:

  • Request a payout from $100, minus 7%, to a bank account through Stripe, where it's available, or to Payoneer, normally within 10 business days. In your first 30 days after your first completed Safe Deal, payouts are limited to $500 in total.
  • Spend them on your own Safe Deals as a brand, with no fee.

Before your first payout you set up a payout profile with your legal name and country. Creators outside the US also sign Form W-8BEN in the app.

If something goes wrong

  • The post isn't up within 12 hours of the agreed time. The deal is cancelled and the brand gets the full price back.
  • The creator cancels after payment, or the post comes down before the agreed days end. The brand gets the full price back.
  • The post doesn't match the offer. Either side can report a problem before the deal completes. You always have at least 48 hours after publishing. paidpost looks at the offer, the chat and the post, and decides, normally within 5 business days: complete the deal, refund the brand or split the price.
  • The brand cancels after paying for another reason. paidpost reviews it and may pay the creator a fair part for time reserved and work done.

Refunds of the price go to the brand's Advance, ready for the next Safe Deal, or to the card on request. Any part paid from earnings goes back to earnings. The 7% paid by card isn't refunded.

Who can use it

  • Not every creator account qualifies. The X account must be at least 90 days old and have at least 100 followers. Otherwise, it's Direct deals only.
  • Creators in the 18+ niche are Direct only.
  • Prices. A Safe Deal starts at $10. Until you've completed your first Safe Deal, a Safe Deal can be at most $200. This counts for each side separately: a deal above $200 needs the brand and the creator to have each completed one.

The full rules are in the Safe Deal Terms, and the steps are on the Safe Deals guide. Questions: [email protected].
